The Building Inspector inspects all phases of residential, commercial, and industrial construction work for compliance with applicable codes and ordinances. This position works Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. The Building Inspector is also responsible for covering bi-weekly on-call hours.
- Inspects all phases of residential, commercial and industrial construction;
- Performs electrical, mechanical, plumbing, gas, footing, slab, setback, limited fire/life safety, Americans with Disabilities (ADA), and structural inspections for compliance with applicable building codes and zoning regulations;
- Reviews construction plans, including schematic building and site drawings to ensure compliance with building, electrical, plumbing, gas, mechanical, limited fire, parking, emergency egress, ADA, and other applicable codes and ordinances;
- Maintains files of inspections, re‑inspections, notes, and required reports;
- High School Diploma;
- Two (2) years of experience in a related field;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License;
- Must be able to obtain the four (4) sections of I.C.C. Building Inspector Certification Modules (Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical Inspections) within a 24‑month period from the initial date of hire.
