Overview
Join the Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) as a Part-Time Bus Operator
. You will serve the community, connect with passengers, and ensure safe and reliable transportation in the State College area.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure safety and compliance at the start of each shift.
- Navigate designated routes, transporting passengers efficiently and comfortably.
- Provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and assist passengers with boarding or disembarking as needed.
- Adhere to schedules and manage delays or route changes.
- Maintain safety by monitoring traffic and road conditions to ensure a secure ride for all on board.
- Complete required paperwork, including passenger counts and incident reports, to support operations.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Excellent driving skills with attention to detail and knowledge of traffic regulations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and flexibility to handle route changes or passenger inquiries.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
- Strong sense of responsibility and dedication to providing reliable service.
- Successful completion of CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement training and testing (required).
Training is 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Part-Time Bus Operators are expected to be available on nights and weekends after graduating from the training program.
Starting salary is $21.78 per hour as a trainee.
Salary for Year One: $23.21 per hour, Year Two: $24.63 per hour, After Year Two: $27.48 per hour
