Job Overview

Join Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) as a Bus Cleaner. You'll play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness of our fleet, contributing to the overall image of public transit in the Centre Region.

Compensation
  • Starting salary: $17.37 per hour
  • Year Two: $18.39 per hour
  • After Year Two: $20.44 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize the interior and exterior of buses
  • Remove trash, wipe down surfaces, vacuum carpets, and wash windows
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient operations
  • Report any maintenance issues to the supervisor to keep the fleet in peak condition
Qualifications
  • Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a keen eye for detail
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift for long periods
  • Effective time‑management skills (shifts 3:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.)
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration and reporting
  • Genuine passion for public service
  • Must be at least 18 years old

CATA is a joint municipal authority established in 1974, proudly celebrating its 50th anniversary. CATA serves portions of Centre County, Pennsylvania, including Penn State's 60,000 students and employees at the University Park Campus. It facilitates more than 5 million annual rides through fixed‑route, micro‑transit, paratransit, and commuter services. Renowned for its innovative sustainable transportation, CATA was the first public transportation agency on the East Coast to operate an entirely compressed natural gas (CNG) fixed‑route fleet.
