Part-Time Bus Operator
Join Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) as a Part‑Time Bus Operator and embark on an exciting journey every day! As a crucial part of our team, you’ll serve the community, connect with diverse passengers, and ensure safe and reliable transportation for all in the vibrant State College area.
Training is 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Part‑Time Bus Operators are expected to be available on nights and weekends after graduating from the training program.
Starting salary is $21.78 per hour as a trainee. Salary for Year One: $23.21 per hour, Year Two: $24.63 per hour, After Year Two: $27.48 per hour.

Responsibilities- Conduct pre‑trip inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Navigate designated routes, transporting passengers to their destinations efficiently and comfortably.
- Engage with passengers, provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and assist those who need help boarding or disembarking.
- Maintain awareness of traffic and road conditions, ensuring a secure ride for everyone on board.
- Adhere to schedules while managing any unexpected delays or route changes.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including passenger counts and incident reports, to support seamless operations.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Excellent driving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Problem‑solving abilities for navigating unexpected situations.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
- Strong sense of responsibility and dedication.
- Successful completion of CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement training and testing will be required.
