Position: Associate Scientist I

Cayman Chemical Company (State College, PA)

Currently, we are looking to add an
Associate Scientist
to our team in State College, Pennsylvania
:

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with diverse organic syntheses, purifications, & characterizations.
  • Assist with new batch production of natural products, synthetic, and semi-synthetic products.
  • Assist in optimization of lab procedures by identifying inconsistent steps to improve yields and optimize procedures.
  • Characterize organic compounds using TLC, NMR, mass spec, IR, and UV methods.
  • Support team initiatives to achieve deliverables, within budget and timeline.
  • Maintain a well‑documented notebook and accurately prepare and submit lab materials, including SOP revisions, new batch QC submissions, etc., to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain clean, organized lab spaces and adhere to all established lab safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry/relevant field.
  • Experience:

    2 years (with Bachelor’s), None (with Master’s).
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Proficiency with Chem Draw and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of organic reaction mechanisms and retrosynthetic analysis.
  • Solid understanding of stoichiometry and proficiency with associated calculations.
  • Experience with thin layer chromatography, column chromatography, recrystallization, and other purification methods.
  • Availability to work on‑site in State College, PA
    , Monday through Friday.
