Schedule

8-hour shifts;
Monday through Friday, from 0615 to 1445. No weekends, holidays, or call responsibilities.

Job Description

The Operating Room Nurse is responsible for assessing and responding to the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients through observation and interaction, acting as a patient advocate. The nurse will prepare the operating room with appropriate sterile supplies and equipment, work collaboratively with the surgical team, and ensure patient safety throughout the surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and address patient needs during preoperative care.
  • Set up the operating room with necessary sterile supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with scrub nurse/technician, anesthesia personnel, and surgeon for efficient surgical procedures.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and safety measures are met.
  • Maintain and observe a sterile field during surgeries.
  • Document required information accurately in patient records.
  • Oversee sponge, needle, and instrument counts before and during surgery.
  • Prepare and manage medications during procedures, ensuring proper labeling and usage.
  • Handle specimens correctly and ensure proper documentation and labeling.
  • Wear and ensure use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication and workflow in operating room settings.
  • Participate in inventory management and cost containment efforts.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties as necessary between surgical cases.
  • Perform duties across various patient areas as required.
