Histology Technologist

Overview

Pride Health is currently seeking candidates for Histology Tech positions that will provide support for our client's healthcare systems in State College, Pennsylvania
. This is a contract assignment with a high likelihood of extension and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Job Title: Histology Tech

Location: State College, Pennsylvania

Schedule: 40 hours/week

Shift: 5x8 Days (8 hrs)

Pay Range for Traveler: $1950 - $2038 Weekly DOE

• Perform prompt, efficient, and accurate histological procedures on tissue specimens under the direction of supervisors
• Support pathologists in specimen preparation and diagnostic processes
• Identify and process all tissue specimens received in anatomic pathology
• Assign sequential accession numbers to specimens while maintaining accurate patient identification
• Enter patient demographics, specimen source, and physician/surgeon information accurately
• Assist pathologist with gross examination of tissue specimens
• Load and operate tissue processors
• Process, embed, cut, stain, and prepare tissue sections for microscopic examination
• Deliver prepared slides to the pathologist in a timely manner
• Assist with frozen section preparation as soon as specimens are received
• Perform special histochemical staining as requested by the pathologist
• Ensure special stains are completed within required time frames
• Prepare and package slides or specimens for outside laboratory consultation
• Properly file and index tissue slides and blocks for storage and retrieval
• Maintain specimen retention according to required timelines
• Assist with rotation and organization of stored patient specimens

• Experience:
  
  Minimum 1 year of experience
• Certification:
  Must be certified as a Histotechnologist (HT/HTL) with ASCP or equivalent certification
