Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Practice Manager I is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of practices with net patient revenue of less than $2.5 million and less than 5 plus providers or less than 12 plus support staff FTE’s. Assists in strategic initiatives to develop practice to fullest potential. Performs as problem solver to physicians, regional director, medical director, patients and staff. Oversees established financial processes and ensures staff executes daily business office functions and procedures.
Responsible for monitoring business activity to ensure established revenue and expense targets are achieved.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration, Health Policy, Nursing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eight years’ experience in increasingly responsible positions in a physician practice setting may be substituted for the education requirements.
Experience:
- Three years’ experience in physician practice management or healthcare environment.
- Two years supervisory experience.
- Internship experience in a physician practice setting gained during a master’s degree program in healthcare administration may be substituted for experience requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of healthcare and clinical management.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team and demonstrate principles of customer service.
- Maintain a familiarity with the provisions and application of state and federal employment law.
- Keep abreast of changes in the healthcare field including regulations and technological advances.
- Working knowledge of Electronic Health Records, Electronic Eligibility, Electronic Scheduling, Compliance Programs, CPT & ICD9/ICD
10 Coding, HIPAA, PQRS, Medicare and Medicaid regulations and Quality Control procedures.
License/Certification/Registration:
- Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) and Certified Medical Manager (CMM) certifications preferred.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives minimal supervision from the Director, Operations.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
Supervises the activities of the department staff.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operations Management
- Supervise Practice Supervisors in their oversight of operations for their sites.
- Oversee supervisors’ activity in daily clinic activities including patient scheduling and flow, ensuring adequate and appropriate staff coverage and allocation and managing employees’ schedules.
- Coordinate and facilitate escalation as needed on behalf of supervisor requests related to general facility issues and maintenance through the building managers and assurance there are adequate and appropriate levels of supplies, equipment, tools, etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate escalation as needed on behalf of supervisor requests and independently identify information technology dysfunctions and communicate and coordinate problems with the appropriate personnel.
- Support and participate in health system functions, initiatives and operations (e.g. evaluation, dissemination and use of Press Ganey patient satisfaction surveys, safety, privacy, corporate compliance, credentialing, and mandatory education).
