Manufacturing Engineer

Overview

Akkodis is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer on a contract basis with a direct client in State College, PA 16803. Pay range: $45.00/hr - $49.00/hr; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Duration: 12+ months to hire.

A Manufacturing Engineer will lead manufacturing-related activities on programs and prototype hardware, learn, own, and run the process, and become the subject matter expert for the equipment in the area supported.

• Interfacing with design engineers to ensure hardware is highly-producible.
• Assisting with high-visibility manufacturing efforts, including formal cost/schedule responsibilities and manufacturing readiness reviews, which may include direct customer interface.
• Planning and requesting manpower/equipment/process resources.
• Generating assembly documentation and directing support personnel in the day-to-day execution of manufacturing tasks.
• Supporting process improvement initiatives of a technical and operational nature.
• Designing and developing manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies, and systems.
• Planning and supporting the build and modification of electronic systems in procurement, assembly method/work instructions generation, tooling design, process development, facilities/equipment planning, and resolution of manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues.
• Supporting root cause and corrective action processes.

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Process Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Bachelors degree with minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Security Clearance required upon hire:
  Ability to Obtain.

• Preferred:
  Experience implementing lean/six sigma techniques (FMEA, DFMA, DTC, DOE, and root cause/corrective action analysis).
• Background in manufacturing electronics for high-reliability military and government systems.
• Knowledge of MIL/IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electronic assemblies (IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, etc.).
• Good communication skills and ability to deliver effective presentations.
• Ability to identify root causes of manufacturing process problems, workmanship defects, mechanical test failures, etc.
• Knowledge of tooling design and implementation.
• Hands-on experience with microelectronic, circuit card assembly, and electro-mechanical assembly processes.
