Overview
Job Description - Maintenance 2/General Maintenance. General maintenance and repair workers fix and maintain buildings and grounds. These workers often carry out many different tasks in a single day. They work from work orders and assigned projects and may work both indoors and outdoors. In addition, to the hospital we service hospital clinic outside the hospital.
Duties- Perform minor and major repairs on all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision of Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance 1 technician.)
- Perform preventative maintenance assigned through our P.M. Program on buildings, equipment and other assignments.
- Inspect and clean mechanical rooms and work areas in the shop.
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building and equipment and maintain records of the checklist (Daily Rounds, Work Orders).
- May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment (Siemens Energy Management system).
- Assist with renovation projects of buildings, repairing walls, drywall installation, finishing drywall and painting.
- Responsible for carrying out assignments related to jobs or projects.
- Must have an understanding of the proper use of manual and electrical tools.
- Familiar with safety procedures and safety equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection and electrical safety.
- Responsible for in-service education, hospital‑wide mandatory compliance in-services.
- Respond to routine and emergency work order requests.

Education/Experience- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of responsible experience in buildings, grounds, maintenance and repairs; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems and problem solving in any situation.
- This position only requires a valid Mississippi Driver's License.
