Responsibilities include designing algorithms, conducting computational analyses, supervising trainees, and contributing to scientific publications and grant preparation. The role requires expertise in machine learning, statistical computing, programming, and effective communication to advance genomics research.
The Pritchard lab in the Genetics Department at Stanford University is seeking a Staff Scientist (Software Developer
2) to conceptualize, develop, supervise, and implement novel computational approaches for genomics. The successful applicant must have experience in the main areas of application – functional or single cell genomics and/or statistical genetics -- as well as strong experience in modern computational statistics and machine learning. This position will be on-site.
The successful applicant will have broad responsibility for providing technical direction on multiple projects conducted by the lab as well as leading projects of their own. They will contribute to all phases of project development including conceptualization, design and implementation of algorithms, computational analysis of genomic and other omics data, simulations and testing of code, and preparation of scientific manuscripts and revisions.
Strong communication skills (speaking and writing) are essential. The work will require innovative programming and analysis skills with an emphasis on algorithmic development for machine learning and/or statistical computing. Mentoring trainees on technical aspects of their project will be an essential part of this job.
Duties include:
