Software Engineer, Backend |

Role Overview

We're looking for a Software Engineer, Backend with 2–5 years of experience to join our backend team. You'll build and maintain the API services, data layer, and cloud infrastructure that power the Arccos platform for hundreds of thousands of golfers.

This is a generalist backend role. You should be comfortable working across the stack—writing API endpoints, debugging database queries, deploying to the cloud, and figuring out why something broke in production. We value engineers who take ownership of their work, write tested code, and care about the systems they build.

  • Build and extend API endpoints in our Node.js/Type Script and Python services that power our mobile and web products
  • Investigate and fix bugs across backend services and the database, including customer-facing issues
  • Trace problems from the API layer through the database to find root causes
  • Write unit and integration tests for the code you ship
  • Write and optimize SQL queries against our MySQL database
  • Contribute to data model improvements and data integrity fixes
  • Help with cloud deployments, monitoring, and infrastructure improvements across our AWS environment
  • Tackle interesting engineering problems in a domain with real complexity—golf involves spatial data, sensor fusion, real-time course mapping, AI-driven strategy, and millions of events per day. There's no shortage of hard problems to solve.
Requirements
  • 2–5 years of professional software development experience
  • Strong foundation in at least one object-oriented programming language (Java, C#, Python, Type Script, Kotlin, Go, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud-based engineering—you've built and deployed services on a cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) in a professional setting
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL—you can write queries, debug data issues, and reason about schema design
  • Testing discipline—you write tests as part of your workflow, not as an afterthought
Nice to Have (but you can learn on the job)
  • Type Script, Node.js, or Python experience
  • Rust experience or interest
  • AWS experience (Lambda, RDS, SNS, Cloud Watch)
  • Familiarity with RESTful API design
  • Interest in golf (not required, but it helps to care about the product you're building)
  • Competitive Compensation – We offer a market-competitive salary structure designed to attract and retain top talent.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage – Access to competitively priced medical, dental and vision insurance through our nationwide Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
  • 401(k) with Company Match – Plan for your future with our employer-sponsored 401(k) program and company matching contributions.
  • Flexible Time Off – Enjoy an unlimited PTO policy built on trust, accountability and performance.
  • Golf Reimbursements – We support your passion for the game and the opportunity to utilize and test our unique product offerings.
  • People and Culture – Join a highly engaged, passionate team that values collaboration, initiative, and a shared love for what we do.
