Design Within Reach invites applicants for the Merchandise Planner role in our Stamford, CT office (hybrid schedule). The position reports to the Planning Manager and focuses on maximizing sales and margin while optimizing inventory.

• Build and present pre‑season merchandise plans aligned with financial objectives and buying strategy.
• Develop a quantitative pre‑season assortment plan that supports the qualitative vision and partner with cross‑functional teams.
• Analyze in‑season sales trends to recommend promotional pricing, chase inventory, and present strategies at monthly and quarterly reviews.
• Identify core item flow buys that optimize sell‑through, turnover, and warehouse capacity.
• Maximize profitability through margin improvements, mix shifts, pricing opportunities, and liquidation strategies.
• Help build best‑in‑class planning processes with a new planning and allocation system.
• Apply an entrepreneurial mindset with the customer at the core of inventory decisions.

• 2‑5 years of inventory management or retail planning experience.
• Passion for optimizing sales, margin, and inventory.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong analytical abilities and detail orientation.
• Ownership over work and a drive to deliver results.
• Team‑dynamic and willing to roll up sleeves.
