Breast Surgery Staff RN – Stamford Health

Job Description

Stamford Health is looking for a full‑time Breast Surgery RN to join our Stamford Medical Group Team.

Schedule & Location

Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm at the Tully Health Center, 32 Strawberry Hill Court, Stamford, CT.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greet patients, document concerns, questions, etc.; accompany patient to exam/procedure room and prepare for physical exam; initial patient interview; review patient medical profile, H&P, and document in EMR/manual charting as appropriate.
  • Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight; reports abnormalities to physician; assists with specimen collection and testing as necessary; documents pertinent information in EMR.
  • Assists patients as necessary (e.g., walking, transferring, dressing).
  • Provides minor treatment as directed by physician; assists physicians with minor procedures.
  • Provides education as indicated after assessing patient's learning needs.
  • Documents all patient‑related activities.
  • Schedules patient testing and pre‑certifies if insurance requires.
  • Responds to all telephone messages (patient, physician offices, etc.).
  • End‑of‑month checks for expired supplies and medication.
  • Stocks rooms/maintains inventory in exam/procedure rooms.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Cleans exam/procedure rooms and equipment after each patient.
  • Prepares exam/procedure rooms for next patient and physician needs.
  • Notifies patients of test results (per physician instruction) and follow‑up.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, in‑service education opportunities and participates in continuing education programs.
  • Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with employees and other managers of the health care team.
  • Respects and protects the patient’s rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes in the patient’s best interests.
  • Participates in and supports performance improvement and risk‑management activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested to maintain a high level of service; completes required continuous training and education, including practice‑specific requirements; demonstrates professional work behavior by following service standards; complies with departmental policies and procedures and external agency requirements.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid license as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut.
  • BLS certification.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a similar position.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
