Overview
Corporate Communications Manager — Pay: $38-42 / HR;
Duration: 8 months;
Hybrid Role – Stamford, CT
- Contractor, External Communications:
The Contractor will help execute and sustain an external communication strategy that drives the company’s overall awareness and reputation in the region, a priority focus of the North American executive team. Oversight of two major areas: (1) developing, implementing, and managing annual strategic communication plans for Sustainability efforts in the region and for the Consumer Brands and Adhesive Technologies business units and functions;
(2) supporting the company’s Media Relations strategy and activities, including creation and management of plans, and execution of global communications events in collaboration with key leaders and the global corporate communications team. - Your role:
Elevate and protect corporate reputation through effective communications and media relations. - Develop and execute sustainability communications for North America, partnering with global sustainability management, communications, and business teams.
- Develop and deploy best practices in media relations for internal audiences at all levels to measurably upgrade sustainability reputation.
- Partner with teams on media relations, providing messaging, monitoring, and reporting support for crisis and issues management.
- Leverage and integrate key corporate messaging into media messaging and ensure executives are trained in using key messaging with local examples in press settings.
- Build relationships with key trade and local media across the region, coordinating with Public Affairs and Supply Chain/ Operations communication for local press strategies at priority manufacturing site communities.
- Assist with management of external agency partner media and sustainability relations scope and spend, providing support and direction.
- Develop and distribute press releases, media briefs, Q&A messaging, and media fact sheets.
- Prepare leaders for press interactions and public relations activities including public speaking events and media-facing government affairs activities.
- Serve as an integral part of the external communications team in the region, partnering with colleagues to build, execute, and continually refine the external communications plan and ensure alignment with internal communications.
- Bachelor’s in communications or related discipline.
- Proven track record of increasing corporate reputation with measurable results.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive and successful communication and media relations experience.
- Established experience developing and managing media relations, including strategy, planning, key message development, proactive outreach and reactive responding to reporters/editors, media training, and reporting.
- Experience with agency management.
- Superior writing skills, strong analytical, negotiation, organization, prioritization, and presentation skills; general business management knowledge.
- Prior experience influencing and collaborating with global and cross-functional colleagues at junior, mid and senior management levels.
- Collaborative, team-player, comfortable in a fast-paced environment spanning different time zones.
- Highly organized, with demonstrated ability to multi-task, adapt to changing needs, and remain resilient under pressure.
- Proven ability to drive change, challenge the status quo, and creatively deliver results within a global organization.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and preferably media and social media monitoring tools, with ability to leverage this knowledge to develop and communicate presentations to varied audiences.
