Senior level workshop fabricator

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator / Copper Fabricator to join our custom architectural metal workshop. In this role, you will set up, maintain, and operate industrial machines while also performing hands-on custom copper fabrication related to architectural roofing projects.

This is not a production role. Our work involves one-off, custom copper fabrication including dormers, chimney caps, finials, and other roofing-related architectural elements. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and takes pride in craftsmanship.

• Perform routine safety and maintenance checks prior to machine operation
• Set up, calibrate, adjust, and clean machines including CNC, water jet and press brake
• Operate machinery to cut, bend, and form copper components
• Perform copper forming, bending, and soldering for custom roofing elements
• Measure and replicate parts directly from original pieces or templates
• Use precision tools to inspect fabricated components
• Monitor output to ensure it meets quality and craftsmanship standards
• Troubleshoot machine or fabrication issues as they arise
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment
• Maintain basic records of work performed and materials used

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience as a machine operator and/or metal fabricator required
• Experience operating CNC machinery (water jet, press brake, bending equipment)
• Strong knowledge of copper fabrication and soldering
• Ability to read and interpret measurements, shop drawings, and templates
• High attention to detail and strong hand-eye coordination
• Ability to adhere to all safety rules and regulations
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting materials, standing for long periods, and repetitive motion
