Gen Re currently offers an excellent full-time remote opportunity within Life/Health North America for a VP, Senior Account Executive. Our Stamford, CT office is the assigned work location and candidates are welcome to work remotely.
Role DescriptionThe Senior Account Executive is responsible for profitable growth through the development of active and prospective clients, and the maintenance of such. Reporting to the Head of the Individual Life business of General Re Life Corporation (GRL), the incumbent will be responsible for an assigned client and prospect list and will represent GRL at key industry functions.
The emphasis of this role is on the development and support of our Individual Life business. The role focuses on growing reinsurance business with existing clients, acquiring new clients, and developing mutually beneficial research and service opportunities. This is a self-starter, client relationship role which demands the management of successful relationships, not only with clients and prospects but also within the organization.
The position requires considerable cross‑functional interaction and collaboration with colleagues to ensure that client needs and opportunities are well‑known and met with outstanding service.
Core responsibilities of the role include managing client relationships, new business development, reinsurance product and service development, synergistic business opportunity development and the promotion of industry thought leadership.
- Contribute to and work in alignment with marketing strategy
- Stay on top of major trends and information related to the life insurance industry
- Develop new and retain existing clients, subject to profitability and risk considerations
- Maintain good relationships with reinsurance buyers
- Understand the financial and risk management needs of clients, be an innovative problem solver and help develop solutions/products to meet those needs
- Ensure continuous client contact to maintain awareness of developments affecting the client
- Ensure required service levels are being met
- Present accurate, professional quotes to clients
- Be actively involved in corporate events and event planning
- Serve on industry boards/committees
- Create and deliver marketing presentations
- Write articles, blogs and social media posts
- Continuously maintain excellent client and prospect documentation
- 10+ years’ experience in the Individual Life or Life reinsurance business. Prefer candidates with FSA. Prior Life pricing experience would be a plus.
- Strong understanding of the Individual Life marketplace and industry trends.
- Comprehensive Individual Life product knowledge.
- Up to date on key industry activities and current hot topics.
- Excellent communicator including listening, verbal and written.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to take initiative in a team‑based environment.
