Job Description
The primary responsibility of an Epic Cogito Developer is to create, modify, and enhance analytics content tailored to both end users and third parties. This includes writing and optimizing SQL queries, refining and updating reports, and collaborating closely with subject‑matter experts to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the content. The individual in this role will be instrumental in transforming complex data into actionable insights, supporting decision‑making, and driving better healthcare outcomes.
Strong communication skills and technical proficiency are essential for success in this position.
Supports, coordinates, and works closely with other Stamford health staff members who are responsible for the continuous support of the Epic EHR system.
Works collaboratively with the Stamford Analytics team to ensure both operational and analytical reviews are thoroughly completed on related Epic reporting content.
This position would be hybrid and would require on‑site work.
Responsibilities- Configure and test Epic‑released and Foundation System content for all applications, including:
- Reporting Workbench
- Slicer Dicer
- Radar
- Cogito SQL
- Create content to display Epic data from Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle
- Write SQL and configure Radar settings for custom SQL metrics
- Modify existing reports, as necessary
- Distribute analytics content to data consumers
- Review peer reports for validity
- Work with subject‑matter experts to understand the needs of data consumers
- Maintain the Analytics Catalog and associated metadata records
- Test analytics build in a specified testing environment and perform volume testing in live environments
- Review upgrade documentation related to Cogito features and determine how to implement the changes
- Build and maintain:
- Cubes
- Extracts
- Slicer Dicer custom filters
- Third‑party BI tools
- Epic data in Caboodle
- A degree in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, information systems, or statistics
- Strong communication skills
- Critical thinking and an analytical mindset
- User‑focused design and data visualization skills
- Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts
- Proficiency and demonstrated experience with analytics tools
- Familiarity with Epic applications and database structure, through Epic Cogito training
- Ability to gain an in‑depth understanding of the data model through data model classes geared toward content areas
- Ability to understand data structures that could benefit the entire data environment
