The Senior Director of Compensation & Equity role at Aston Carter is a dynamic, future‑focused position tasked with designing and delivering an innovative compensation strategy that extends beyond traditional responsibilities. The leader will build a transparent, equitable, and scalable total rewards framework that aligns with executives, engages employees, and excites candidates. Reporting directly to the Head of People, this role will ensure the total rewards framework is engaging and exceptional.

Responsibilities
  • Architect the enterprise‑wide compensation philosophy and strategy to position the company as a top‑tier employer of choice.
  • Partner with the executive team and Board to ensure alignment on data‑informed, transparent, and equitable compensation practices.
  • Lead the Compensation Committee agenda, including content, storytelling, relationships, recommendations, and alignment across management and external partners.
  • Design and evolve cash, equity, and incentive programs that are easy to understand and scalable for growth.
  • Champion holistic and forward‑looking reward models that recognize both results and values‑based behaviors.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with People, Finance, Legal, and external advisors to innovate around equity, dilution management, and emerging trends in total rewards.
  • Lead the education and enablement of leaders, managers, and employees on complex compensation topics, making them transparent and digestible.
  • Build resources, tools, and training that ensure consistent application and foster trust.
  • Operationalize compensation cycles and communications to drive clarity, confidence, and engagement.
  • Oversee the governance of compensation and equity programs to ensure compliance with public‑company regulations and disclosures.
  • Deliver data‑driven insights and reporting to the executive team and Board for better workforce and financial decisions.
  • Provide compensation expertise for mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and elevate a team of compensation and equity professionals, setting a tone of curiosity, innovation, and excellence.
Essential Skills
  • 15+ years of experience within compensation and benefits.
  • Experience with compensation committee and working with stakeholders and the Board.
  • Proficiency in compensation analysis and Excel.
  • Experience with Pay Scale.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive compensation experience, including at least 3 years in executive/equity compensation within a public company.
  • Advanced expertise in market pricing, modeling, analytics, and pay equity frameworks.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex compensation concepts into clear, compelling narratives.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • CCP or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Success in preparing and presenting at the Board/Compensation Committee level.
Work Environment

This is a fully remote role, allowing for independent work while collaborating directly with the team. The position involves working closely with the Senior Director of People Ops and Head of Total Rewards & People Ops, who are also fully remote. The company currently has over 900 employees nationwide and is projected to grow to 1,900 by the end of 2026.

The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $120.00/hr.
