Role Summary/
Purpose:
The AVP, Audit Manager within the Internal Audit function will be responsible for executing on the audit plan covering Synchrony Financials' Compliance risks and Compliance organization, with a focus on AML/BSA requirements. The incumbent will participate as a team member responsible for the execution of compliance audit testing, including integrated audits, that entail the review, testing, analysis, and conclusion over the design and effectiveness of the bank's control environment, as well as validation of corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding of regulatory financial industry related guidance and regulations for AML/BSA, and other consumer bank regulations such as TILA, UDAAP, ECOA/Fair Lending, TISA, Reg O, FCRA, FDCPA
- Participate as a key team member on scheduled audits, executing audit projects from start to finish with high level of autonomy.
- Ensure effective and efficient execution of audits in conformance with professional and department quality standards.
- Conduct and document detailed process walkthroughs with management, including the identification of process risks and controls.
- Develop test procedures for control design assessment and operative effectiveness testing.
- Produce high quality audit work papers that succinctly articulate the process, risks, controls, and testing performed.
- Identify control gaps or control deficiencies and assess the impact of Regulatory Compliance
- Present audit results to various levels of internal audit leadership, as well as the business organization
- Perform research on consumer banking regulatory compliance and other banking operations and finance topics.
- Maintain internal audit competency through ongoing professional development.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or an equivalent related field, and 4+ years' experience in audit, surveillance, risk testing, governance, or relevant banking industry experience covering Regulatory compliance and banking operations.
- In lieu of a relevant Bachelor's degree, 7 years' experience in audit, financial services, surveillance, risk testing governance, or a related field
- Currently holds or is actively pursuing a certification in Compliance specialized areas, such as CAMS, CFE, CRCM or other relevant professional designations.
- Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required
- Ability to understand cross-functional impact of business decisions including operational, compliance and information technology risks.
- Able to work independently on multiple assignments while effectively supporting teamwork and achievement of team objectives.
- Ability to objectively identify problems and set expectations on solutions.
- Demonstrate verbal and written ability to articulate the business objectives, business risk, processes, and controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong PC Skills - Microsoft Office suite
- Familiarity with data mining and analytics (SAS, ACL, Python, Tableau) is a plus.
The salary range for this position is 75,000. USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post.
All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
