Construction Services Engineer– Sustainable Finance
Location: Stamford, CT
Reports To: Head of PACE

PositionDescription:
The successful candidate will play a key role in partnering with the origination team to work with OEMs, ESCOs, developers, building owners, and the commercial construction industry. The role involves managing the feasibility of projects and construction risk for the firm’s investments in sustainable measures in commercial buildings. The candidate will review new construction or planned sustainable or resiliency renovation projects for eligibility under our behind-the-meter sustainable financing, mortgages, and Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs, and provide construction lending monitoring services throughout construction.
PrimaryDuties:
Will be trained in some or all of the following, depending on interests and skill set:
- Financial loan modeling of cash flows and deal sizing.
- Transaction management of complex PACE financings, including origination, underwriting, and negotiations.
- Screening financing opportunities, determining size, price, and structure of financing up to $500 million or more.
- Performing rigorous analysis of proposed transactions, reviewing underwriting, property valuation, and credit enhancement models.
- Managing origination and credit risk, reviewing appraisal reports, property markets, and underwriting property cash flows.
- Relevant energy experience as PE, architect, or certifications such as BEAP, BEMP, AEE, CEM, CEA, or ICP.
- Certification or licensure in any state is required.
- Experience in construction risk management.
- Proven experience modeling for commercial real estate energy efficiency or water conservation savings as PE or architect.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for success in engaging with various stakeholders in the construction and sustainable financing industry.
