The Senior Private Equity Analyst will play a key role on an alternatives investment team responsible for managing a significant portion of the firm’s private markets portfolio. The role includes coverage of fund and co‑investment strategies across private equity, infrastructure, commercial real estate, opportunistic credit, and venture capital. The analyst will evaluate new investments, monitor existing positions, contribute to allocation decisions, and provide insights on broader private markets trends.
Responsibilities- Serve as the lead analyst on a designated set of private equity and co‑investment opportunities
- Deliver investment recommendations supported by thorough underwriting, manager due diligence, track record evaluation, and sector research
- Conduct ongoing portfolio monitoring through quarterly reviews, annual meetings, and performance assessments
- Review transaction documentation and evaluate structural terms, risks, and covenant protections
- Build and maintain scenario analyses for co‑investments during underwriting and ongoing surveillance
- Engage with external research providers, market analysts, and industry contacts to gather independent perspectives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with advisors, general partners, and other market participants
- Prepare updates for senior leadership on performance trends, market developments, and portfolio activity
- Collaborate with internal teams—including accounting, legal, and reporting—to enhance processes supporting the private equity program
- Mentor junior investment staff and contribute to team development
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
- 5–10+ years of experience in private equity, credit research, equity research, or a similar analytical role
- Strong ability to analyze corporate financial statements and assess company fundamentals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations
- Demonstrated judgment and decision‑making ability with limited oversight
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Power Point
- Advanced financial modeling capabilities
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Familiarity with private equity, infrastructure, venture capital, or other alternative investment strategies
- Prior experience in corporate credit or equity research
- Understanding of fixed‑income concepts and valuation
- CFA designation or active candidacy
