Well established CT electrical contractor seeks Junior Electrical Estimator for their growing business. This is a HYBRID role, 3 days wfh. 2 days in office. Salary up to $110k plus medical/dental/401k match. Will entertain local 3 members that would like to stay in the union.
An electrical estimator analyzes project blueprints and specifications to accurately estimate the cost of electrical work, including materials, labor, and equipment. Key responsibilities include preparing bids, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and working with project managers to ensure bids are competitive and projects stay within budget.
Responsibilities:- Analyze project documents:
Review blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to understand the scope of electrical work. - Perform take-offs:
Calculate the quantities of materials, fixtures, and other components needed for the project. - Estimate costs:
Prepare detailed estimates for both material and labor costs, including equipment and subcontractor expenses. - Bid and proposal preparation:
Create and submit competitive bids and proposals to clients. - Vendor and subcontractor coordination:
Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, and negotiate pricing. - Collaborate with teams:
Work with project managers, engineers, and other colleagues to define project scope and objectives. - Ensure compliance:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, electrical codes (like the NEC), and best practices. - Manage project finances:
Track and report on the financial performance of ongoing projects and assist with cost control.
- Technical knowledge:
Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and construction practices. - Analytical skills:
Ability to analyze complex documents and data to produce accurate estimates. - Attention to detail:
Meticulous and detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in estimates. - Communication skills:
Ability to present information clearly to clients, vendors, and internal teams. - Computer skills:
Proficiency with estimating software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel. - Experience:
Previous experience as an electrician or in the construction industry is often required. - Education:
A degree in a relevant field or an electrician's certification is common.
