- Strong content knowledge particularly in the areas of literacy and math

- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
To investigate students who are chronically truant and work with these students and their guardians to improve school attendance. To intervene with Tier 1-3 strategies for students on the cusp of failing courses or failing courses.
Performance Responsibilities- Conduct investigations into student truancy.
- Make telephone calls to absent and truant students and/or guardians.
- Conduct home visits of students to encourage school attendance.
- Prepare and assist in attendance hearings.
- Create and maintain a data-based system for tracking and documentation purposes of messages, home visits, and other intervention attempts.
- Maintain list(s) of chronically truant students.
- Provide tutoring in small groups and 1:1 to build their approaches to learning skills such as self-management and communication.
- Communicate with appropriate staff including admin, school counselors, social worker and other support staff in regards to student progress and concerns while maintaining confidentiality.
- Maintain positive communication and interactions with parents, guardians, students, and other family members.
- Utilize Power School and the Rise Hub to identify students that would benefit from interventions and determine progress.
- Collaborate with the intervention team at bi-weekly meetings.
- Assist with development of attendance/behavior or academic improvement plans.
- Assistance with behavioral support in supervising detentions and/or sitting in on peer mediations as needed.
- Assume such other functions as may be determined.
Seven hours per day, ten-month year. Salary is hourly.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Staff.
