Overview

The History of The Catholic Academy of Stamford

The Catholic Academy of Stamford was founded in 2017 as the flagship Catholic school in Stamford, Connecticut. At the direction of the Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, four parish schools—St. Cecilia, Holy Spirit, Our Lady Star of the Sea, and Trinity Catholic Middle School—were consolidated into a single Pre Kindergarten through Grade 8 academy on one campus, dedicated to academic excellence and faith formation.

Located on Newfield Avenue, the Academy serves students from Pre Kindergarten age three through eighth grade, nurturing them spiritually, academically, and socially. Since its inception, the Academy has pursued Gospel values of love, service, and community in all aspects of school life. It emphasizes personalized learning, faith-centered formation, and a welcoming environment for families, with small class sizes and a mission rooted in Catholic identity.

In recent years, enrollment growth has reflected confidence in its academic excellence and community, leading to the development of the Saint Carlo Acutis Education Wing to expand learning spaces while preserving the school’s faith-filled environment. Today, the Academy stands as a thriving center of Catholic education formed to educate students in faith, knowledge, and service for years to come.

The community believes our primary purpose is to prepare students academically and spiritually to become good Christians, with academic excellence grounded in Gospel truths and Catholic beliefs. We encourage leadership, compassion, and charity, and view a complete education as including a religious dimension with Christ as the foundation of the educational process.
