Para educator – Special Education (CORE Program)

Full‑time, 1.0 FTE;
Salary: $29,709 to $46,991

Responsible for providing educational support to students in the CORE classroom and general education classes, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special needs.

• Implement individualized IEP goals and support students in developing independence and autonomy.
• Assist teachers in behavior management, communication skills, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies.
• Guide sensory diets, activity schedules, and inclusion opportunities.
• Implement behavior intervention plans and record progress.
• Assist with daily living needs, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Support student health services and collaborate with health care plans.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, assembly, drills, and off‑classroom activities.
• Participate in professional development and training programs.

• Para Pro Assessment completion and an Associate’s Degree or 60 college credits.
• Training in trauma‑based, behavior‑based, and student‑centered strategies; knowledge of ABA and RBT.
• Experience with children and individuals with ASD or other special needs.
• Proficiency in standard computer applications.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and respond to emergency situations.

• Indoor classroom, outdoor play, and field trip environments.
• Assisting at‑risk students with cognitive, social‑emotional, and behavioral challenges.
• Supporting students with mental, physical, and disability needs, including feeding and toileting.
