Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County (CLC), formerly Childcare Learning Centers, is a leading comprehensive family services program providing inventive education and care to young children, birth through 5, while also providing comprehensive services for its families. CLC is currently looking to enhance its Family Service Team with a Family Service Worker. The primary role is responsible for the family and community engagement program services of the Head Start and Early Head Start Program.

Responsibilities
  • Implement a family engagement approach per the Head Start Program Performance Standards that supports family well‑being.
  • Engage families in the family partnership process to support family well‑being, including family safety, health, and economic stability to support child learning and development.
  • Develop trusting and respectful relationships with families that support ongoing two‑way communication with parents to create a welcoming program environment.
  • Collaborate with parents on the family partnership process, and engage families in activities to promote children’s learning and development, as well as implement practices to support father engagement.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 40 families. Ensure family needs are met through follow‑up and goal setting, and track progress towards the family’s meeting their goals.
  • Conduct family engagement services in the family’s preferred language, and be respectful of the family’s cultural, ethnic, and linguistic background.
  • Support parents in strengthening their parenting skills by engaging them in a research‑based parenting curriculum.
  • Offer home visiting support to families.
  • Provide resources to families on basic needs, emergency services (DV, homelessness, etc.), vocational, and employment agencies, ESL programs, and family counseling, and assure that their needs are met through follow‑up.
  • Follow all CT Mandated Reporter guidelines for suspicion of child abuse and neglect. Conduct agency‑wide mandated reporter training as scheduled.
  • Ensure the provision of comprehensive services for children and families by working collaboratively with the CLC education, health, nutrition, and disabilities/mental health staff.
  • Schedule and participate in quarterly multi‑disciplinary team meetings/social services meetings.
  • Monitor children’s attendance daily and follow up on chronic absenteeism.
  • Maintain children’s records, and ensure confidential record‑keeping.
  • Document all communication with families, and enter child/family data in the program’s online database system.
  • Participate in community activities such as agency fairs to recruit Head Start/Early Head Start families, door‑to‑door advertisement, represent CLC/HS/EHS in collaborative projects with local community agencies, and conduct presentations on the comprehensive services offered by the Head Start Program.
  • Participate actively in group supervision, one‑to‑one supervision, and professional development training opportunities to enhance skills to promote positive family outcomes.
  • Required to meet all deadlines for program/agency reports.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of income‑eligible families, reserving at least 10% of slots for children with disabilities.
  • All other additional duties as assigned by the direct supervisor or the Head Start Director.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services/Social Work or Associate's Degree in Human Services/Social Work with 2 years of related work experience.

Ability to travel throughout Stamford, valid driver’s license, ability to prioritize and multi‑task, required to work closely with families and community agencies, strong interpersonal skills required.
