Senior Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a background in construction or real estate accounting to join our team in Stamford, CT. This role will play a critical part in managing project-based accounting functions, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring accurate and timely month-end close processes.

Project & Construction Accounting

• Code and process vendor invoices to appropriate jobs and cost categories
• Maintain accurate job cost reports and support budget vs. actual analysis
• Track and manage subcontractor payments, including collection and review of lien waivers
• Prepare and support bank draw packages and related documentation
• Monitor project costs to ensure alignment with approved budgets

General Accounting & Reporting

• Lead and support month-end close process, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and analyze variances
• Assist with financial statement preparation and internal reporting
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or real estate
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting and project-based financial tracking
• Experience with lien waivers and bank draw processes required
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with construction accounting software preferred
