The Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of a globally established engineering organisation that delivers complex industrial construction and infrastructure projects worldwide.

Due to continued growth, the business is building a new Construction function within their Global Field Services division and is now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in shaping this team from the ground up.

This is not a replacement role. It is a newly created position offering the chance to influence commercial processes, support project planning, and help drive financial performance across major engineering projects throughout the EMEA region.

If you want a commercially influential role with genuine global project exposure, this opportunity offers something rarely available in the UK market.

The Role

You will take ownership of the commercial and financial management of construction projects from early planning stages through to completion, ensuring strong cost control, contract management and margin protection.

Alongside traditional Quantity Surveying duties, you will also be involved in project planning and early-stage commercial input, working closely with engineering, project delivery and senior management teams internationally.

The position is primarily office based (around 70%) with travel across EMEA project locations when required.

Key Responsibilities Commercial Management
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and project budgets
  • Monitor financial performance and forecast project costs
  • Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies
Tendering & Procurement
  • Prepare tender packages and evaluate contractor submissions
  • Support contract negotiations and supplier selection
Contract & Change Management
  • Manage contracts, variations, claims and change orders
  • Ensure all scope changes are commercially justified and recorded
Project Planning Support
  • Contribute commercial insight during planning and project setup stages
  • Work closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure cost-effective execution
Site & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Visit project sites across EMEA to verify progress and support valuations
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and international stakeholders
About You

We are looking for a senior Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable operating within technically complex construction or industrial engineering environments.

You will ideally have:

  • Extensive Quantity Surveying experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or industrial projects
  • Strong background in contract management, budgeting and cost control
  • Experience working on large-scale or technically complex projects
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and commercial judgement
  • Strong Excel and commercial reporting capability
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel internationally

A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar is advantageous.

Salary & Benefits
  • Salary up to £80,000
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Additional Christmas bonus
  • 12% pension scheme
  • 27 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • BUPA healthcare plan
  • Multiple fully funded company team events each year
  • Structured training and long-term career development
  • Opportunity to work on global industrial engineering projects
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Genuine influence on how commercial processes are developed
  • Exposure to international engineering projects across EMEA
  • Strong long-term career progression within a growing global business
  • Excellent pension and bonus structure rarely matched in similar roles
