Shift Supervisor

Salary: £50,000 per annum + performance-related bonuses

Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:00pm - 4:00am (occasional weekend work required)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Shift Supervisor to lead operations during evening and night shifts at a high-volume processing facility. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective running of the site during your shift, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

This is a key leadership role, requiring strong people management skills, operational awareness, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

As Shift Supervisor, your duties will include:

  • Acting as the primary shift lead and keeping General and Production Managers informed of key operational updates
  • Taking full ownership of shift performance, including workforce supervision, production output, quality, and targets
  • Driving high operational standards in line with company procedures, KPIs, and safety systems
  • Coaching, developing, and motivating team members to build strong leadership capability and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Monitoring shift performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Ensuring clear communication across teams, including thorough and effective shift handovers
  • Completing all required documentation accurately and on time
  • Promoting and enforcing a safety-first culture, proactively identifying and addressing risks in line with H&S policies
  • Leading problem-solving and root-cause analysis to resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
  • Working collaboratively with other Shift Supervisors to ensure consistency across shifts
  • Supporting training and development to meet both current and future operational needs
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that support business growth
  • Upholding high housekeeping and cleanliness standards to ensure a safe and efficient working environment
  • Using company resources responsibly to maintain cost-effective operations
  • Acting as a role model and ambassador for company values, policies, and procedures
Experience Required
  • Proven supervisory experience within a high-volume processing or manufacturing environment
  • Engineering, maintenance, or electrical experience
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
  • Experience with in the waste or recycling industry (preferred)
  • Hands‑on experience operating equipment, plant, or facilities
Qualifications & Knowledge
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Solid working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and a strong Health & Safety culture

Additional Information

As a Shift Supervisor, you will play a critical role in the day‑to‑day success of the operation. You will be responsible for ensuring the facility is optimised to process materials efficiently for a minimum of 55 hours per week. You will be expected to lead by example, embed a strong safety‑first culture, promote best practices, and challenge unsafe behaviours or process inefficiencies whenever they arise.
