Overview

Performs intermediate semiskilled work organizing and instructing all levels of American Red Cross swimming lessons for infants through adults. Does related work as required. Supervision is exercised over Aquatic Aides. Work is performed under regular supervision. The hiring range for this position is $17.94/hour to $22.43/hour based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Organizes and instructs all levels of American Red Cross (ARC) swimming lessons for infant through adults. Maintains records and statistics. Assists in training and supervising Aquatic Aides;
  • Demonstrates and instructs ARC swimming lessons for all age groups;
  • Coordinates activities and demonstrations;
  • Organizes and implements program activities;
  • Schedules and registers participants;
  • Prepares and communicates program information to the public, participants, and staff;
  • Supervises a variety of skill and age levels of class participants;
  • Certifies completion of necessary skill levels for advancement;
  • Completes all required records and reports on a daily basis;
  • Maintains proper updated safety requirements;
  • Provides customer service to patrons, including handling customer conflicts and complaints;
  • Performs related work as required.

Skills and Abilities

/ Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, practices, techniques, and equipment needed to teach ARC swimming lessons to all age groups;
  • General knowledge of aquatic area operations, including sanitation, maintenance, and safety;
  • Ability to instruct and supervise various groups of participants;
  • Ability to withstand exposure to direct sunlight, heat, and humidity;
  • Ability to deal courteously but firmly with program participants;
  • Ability to execute sound judgment.
Education and Experience

Experience in aquatic instruction and a minimum age of 16 years old. Must have current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification. No Benefits associated with this position.
