This position is contingent upon award of a federal cloud modernization contract. Candidates may be considered for future opportunities should the contract be awarded and project requirements finalized.

Position Overview

Illumen is seeking a Dev Sec Ops  Engineer to support the migration and modernization of USDA Rural Development applications to a FedRAMP-authorized Government Cloud environment. This role will focus on building and maintaining secure CI/CD pipelines, implementing Infrastructure as Code, and integrating security controls into cloud delivery workflows. The Dev Sec Ops  Engineer will work closely with cloud architects, migration engineers, and security teams to ensure applications are deployed securely, consistently, and in alignment with federal compliance requirements.

This position supports an active cloud migration effort with defined timelines and structured delivery milestones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI/CD, or Jenkins.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or Cloud Formation.
  • Integrate automated security checks into deployment pipelines (e.g., code scanning, dependency scanning, container scanning).
  • Support implementation of security controls aligned to FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST guidance.
  • Assist with containerization efforts using Docker and support Kubernetes-based deployments.
  • Configure logging and monitoring within cloud environments to support operational visibility.
  • Support vulnerability remediation efforts and documentation updates related to compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and security teams to resolve deployment and pipeline issues.
  • Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Support deployment windows and migration cutovers as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–7 years of experience working in cloud engineering, Dev Ops, or Dev Sec Ops  roles.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in a production environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one Infrastructure as Code tool (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or Cloud Formation).
  • Experience working with container technologies such as Docker.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts and deployments.
  • Working knowledge of security practices in cloud environments.
  • Exposure to regulated environments (federal, financial, healthcare, or other compliance‑driven sectors).
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain required clearance.
