Overview
Job Description Falmouth District Board of Supervisor in Stafford County, Virginia is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the part-time position of Board Support Assistant to support the Supervisor member. The incumbent is responsible for providing support to the elected Board member, facilitating communication between the office, other Board members, County agency staff, constituents, and the public. Additionally, the incumbent may be assigned duties related to public and media relations, program development and operation, and statistical analyses researching, developing, and tracking resolutions.
The selected candidate will demonstrate the ability to be a strategic and civic-minded professional.
This is a part-time position limited to 28 hours per week. Work hours are generally flexible and will be determined in coordination with the appointing Board of Supervisor; however, the selected candidate must be available for occasional evening hours and attendance at County meetings, events, or community functions as required. The rate of pay for this position is $22.10/hour. This position is remote/virtual, with the expectation of availability to attend in-person County events or meetings as necessary.
Examplesof Duties
- Serving as a liaison on behalf of the respective Board member with various officials and citizens
- Exchanging information in connection with the development and execution of programs, projects or other related tasks
- Facilitating and coordinating communication between the respective member of Board and constituents, and state/federal legislators, County departmental leadership, agency heads, boards, commissions and similar entities
- Accompanying the Board member to meetings with County departmental personnel, neighborhood and community groups, organizations and citizens; may attend meetings on the Board member's behalf
- Staying abreast of the respective Board member's Board and Commission assignments
- Maintaining constituent database of information
- Maintaining listing of Board member projects and priorities; researching the status of projects and make changes to listings as necessary
- Researching, developing and tracking state legislation, county resolutions and other developments for respective Board member
- Supervising interns and volunteers
- Planning and/or assisting in the planning of special events of the respective Board member's district
- Creating district newsletter, mailings and other communications
- Advising the respective Board member on basic program and policy affairs
- Documenting, investigating, and resolving citizen complaints
- Tracking and reporting district expenditures
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Requires four (4) years of experience in office management, executive administration, or C-suite executive support
- Requires two (2) years of public service experience
- Requires bachelor s degree or the equivalent of four years of college education in business management, public administration, or any related field preferred
- Prior experience working within a local, state, or federal government
- Experience with representing an elected official at community and business meetings
- Exceptional critical thinking, problem solving, organizational and administrative skills
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and internal/external communication skills
- Advanced proficiency with using various systems and applications to complete daily tasks
