About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a children’s residential home providing care for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and associated complex needs.
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the home operates in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, and Ofsted expectations, while delivering high-quality, child-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
* Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Support Workers
* Ensure practice aligns with the Quality Standards, including:
* Leadership and Management
* Protection of Children
* Care Planning and Outcomes
* Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (as required)
* Oversee rotas, staffing levels, and shift cover
* Support incident management, behaviour support plans, and de-escalation
* Maintain accurate records, audits, and compliance documentation
* Contribute to inspection readiness and support Ofsted visits
* Step up to manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager
About You
* Experience working in a children’s residential setting (EBD / SEMH / LAC)
* Proven experience in a Senior Support Worker or Deputy Manager role
* Strong understanding of:
* Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
* Ofsted Quality Standards
* Safeguarding, risk management, and behaviour support
* Confident leading shifts and supporting staff performance
* Resilient, organised, and child-focused leadership style
Essential:
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Willingness to work towards Level 5 (if not already held)
Desirable:
* Experience supporting inspections
* Team Teach, MAPA, or equivalent training
* Full UK driving licence
