Health & Justice Band 6 Youth Practitioner

The closing date is 09 February 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Liaison & Diversion Team for the role of Liaison & Diversion Youth Practitioner based in Staffordshire Health & Justice Service. Are you interested in being part of a service to support children through the Criminal Justice System? Liaison and Diversion (L&D) teams play a crucial role in helping individuals with mental health issues, learning disabilities, substance misuse problems, and/or other vulnerabilities when they encounter the criminal justice system.

Within L&D there is a need for L&D to offer a dedicated pathway for children and young people (CYP). For CYP having specific provision and dedicated resources within the L&D settings of custody, court and outreach is essential for several reasons. CYP have unique developmental needs, higher prevalence of vulnerabilities, to prevent escalation of criminal behaviour, focus on education and skill development, family and social environment involvement, building trust and rapport, trauma informed care and long-term societal impact.

A CYP-specific provision within Liaison and Diversion is essential to respond to the unique needs, challenges, and opportunities of young people in a way that promotes personal growth, reduces recidivism, and supports a more just and rehabilitative criminal justice system.
