The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet stringent quality standards and customer requirements within a regulated manufacturing environment. The role plays a key part in maintaining compliance, improving quality systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The employee will willingly undertake, upon request, any other task they are able to perform. Elements of the role may vary as new technology, procedures and equipment are introduced.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance procedures and standards in line with recognised quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001 or equivalent).
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Perform internal and external audits.
- Review engineering specifications and manufacturing processes to ensure quality compliance.
- Collaborate with engineering, production and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
- Monitor and report on key quality metrics and trends.
- Support customer and regulatory audits and inspections.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using recognised quality tools (e.g. 8D, FMEA, SPC).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational, planning and decision-making abilities.
- Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload in high-pressure manufacturing environments.
- Collaborative and capable of influencing cross-functional teams.
- Reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic.
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Knowledge of quality standards and regulatory requirements within manufacturing.
- Experience with quality tools and methodologies (e.g. SPC, PPAP, CAPA, FMEA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent documentation and reporting capability.
- Experience in a Quality Engineer role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience conducting audits and managing non-conformance processes.
- Experience working within structured quality management systems.
- Proven experience of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lean Six Sigma or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) qualification.
- Experience with in highly regulated or safety-critical manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with ERP, QMS and statistical analysis software (e.g. Minitab).
