As part of the construction department the M&E estimator & contracting specialist is responsible for the preparation of estimates for the construction site set‑up and electromechanical works in HV substation projects during the tender phase.
The role is responsible for the technical and organisational aspect of RFQs with the potential site subcontractors.
Within the tender team the role analyses customer specification on general site and installation topics, checks data received from engineering for coherence on installation aspects and estimates the means required for the site set‑up & M&E works to achieve Safety, Quality, Cost & Delay targets defined by the tender leader.
Reports to the GSI Construction lead and participates in the function’s objectives.
Job Description During Tender (ITO)- Analyse & qualify customer specification on his field of responsibility:
Site set‑up organisation & Electromechanical installation works. - Prepare costing estimates for the same.
- Prepare schedule for these & participate in their integration into the overall project schedule.
- Prepare tender documents.
- Prepare technical and organisational aspect of Request for Quotation (RFQ) for subcontracted works.
- Lead the interactions with the selected subcontractors on the same topics.
- Actively participate in the tendering teams (planning HAZID).
- Participate in meetings with customers on his field of responsibility.
- Conduct hand‑over from ITO to OTR on his field of responsibility.
- Participate in the management of the M&E supplier panel (qualification site visits).
- At the request of site managers:
- Prepare technical and organisational aspect of Request for Quotation (RFQ) for subcontracted works.
- Lead the interactions with the selected subcontractors on the same topics.
Internal:
Tendering team Engineering Site & Construction Managers.
External:
Subcontractor customer.
- Participation to Hazard Identification (HAZID) meetings.
- Review EHS behaviour & organisational aspect during site visits with potential subcontractors.
- Act steigt radical influences storing ar when improvements action related to EHS in his activities.
- Comply with Quality Procedures work instructions and processes.
- Initiate & participate in improvement actions on construction processes tools and documents.
- Provide tender deliverables within the agreed schedule within the tender team.
- An appropriate qualification in Electrical Engineering with around 5 years of workbeek experience.
- Experience working on the construction of HV substation.
- Good understanding of related engineering documentation (Layout SLD cable & termination schedules BOQ).
- Hands‑on knowledge of the application of CDM.
- Appropriate health and safety experience training and qualifications.
- Be knowledgeable on applicable UK standards and specifications associated with the electrical works and best practice in relation to the construction of HV substations.
- Some experience in off‑shore platforms I&I works an plus.
- Office‑based position but will require travelling to subcontractors & project sites across the North Europe region.
- Ability to integrate with the GSI wider team.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and to accurately and concisely report both verbally and in writing.
- Additional language proficiency in European languages a plus will be an added advantage.
- IT proficiency including information systems / databases and office package.
