As part of the Inspection and Test Team you will be responsible for inspecting and testing equipment produced by the client to ensure the safety and functional operation of the equipment. All testing and inspection is completed using the electrical schematic drawings for the project and a project‑specific Hardware Test Specification written by the Hardware Engineer responsible for the project. The specification identifies the inspections and tests to be performed to comply with the Low Voltage Directive and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive as a minimum, as well as any other customer‑specific standards the equipment is designed to meet.
Responsibilities- Point‑to‑point wiring checks
- Equipment build and configuration inspection
- LVD electrical safety checks
- Earth bond continuity test
- High‑voltage withstand test
- Insulation resistance test
- Power‑up, fusing and equipment functionality checks
- PLC‑based automation control panels
- IT cubicles containing computing and networking equipment
- Peripheral equipment including printers, scanners, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, assembly prints, wiring schedules and parts lists.
- Understanding and implementation of test procedures and instructions.
- Inspection and testing of cubicles in line with company standards.
- Maintenance and completion of test documentation and reports.
- Operational knowledge of components such as MCBs, RCDs, fuses, transformers, power supplies and safety‑critical components.
- Proficiency in the use of electronic multimeters and other test equipment.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 compliant quality system.
- Willingness and ability to attend customer sites to witness equipment tests.
- Current driving licence.
All candidates must hold either a nationally recognised technical qualification in an Electrical/Electronic discipline (e.g. HNC/HND, 17th or 18th Edition C&G2382 & Inspection & Test, or a completed modern apprenticeship or similar). All candidates must also be eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance.
