Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Level
2)
Pay Rate: £90.97 £ 92.86 per day
Location: Sutton Coldfield
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term-time only

Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a specialist primary provision in Sutton Coldfield. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children who have a range of complex special educational needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Job Requirements for this SEN Teaching Assistant role in Sutton Coldfield:
  • NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)

  • Experience working with pupils with complex special educational needs

  • Understanding of alternative communication methods and sensory-based learning

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families

  • Patience, compassion, and resilience in a specialist education setting

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being

Role Responsibilities:
  • Support young pupils with SLD, PMLD, ASD, and additional needs

  • Assist in delivering a sensory-based and highly personalised curriculum

  • Promote effective communication using a range of strategies

  • Work with pupils individually or in small groups to support progress

  • Foster independence and personal development in every child

  • Maintain a safe, nurturing classroom environment

  • Engage in regular CPD to enhance practice and understanding of SEN

  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals as needed
