Children's Support Worker
Location:
Staffordshire – commutable from Birmingham
Contract:
Full-time, permanent
Shifts:
24/7 rota (days, nights, weekends, sleep‑ins where applicable)
We are recruiting Children's Support Workers to join a residential service supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and associated complex needs. This is a rewarding, hands‑on role where you will help provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, enabling young people to develop confidence, emotional regulation, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities- Provide consistent, child‑centred care and emotional support
- Promote positive behaviour, boundaries, and daily routines
- Support young people with education, activities, appointments, and daily living skills
- De‑escalate challenging situations using approved approaches
- Maintain accurate records in line with care plans and safeguarding procedures
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals
- Act as a positive role model and reliable adult presence
- Experience working with children or young people (residential care, SEN, SEMH, education, youth work, or similar)
- Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work a rota including evenings, nights, and weekends
- Genuine motivation to support vulnerable young people
- Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare
- Experience with in EBD or SEMH residential settings
- Team Teach, MAPA, or equivalent training
- Full UK driving licence
- Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
