The Logistics Technician will be responsible for all aspects of shipping and receiving, including managing customer shipments, outsourced shipments, inventory of all packages awaiting shipment, and all incoming product receipts. This position will assure that product deliveries to our customers are processed in a timely and efficient manner and comply with customer requirements and domestic and international shipping regulations.
Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible to:
Shipping:
* Work closely with Freight Forwarders and customers to mediate the scheduling and pick up of outbound international shipments in accordance with customer requirements.
* Schedule and coordinate local shipments to ensure delivery is received by customer before end of business.
* Contact Will Call customers to let them know orders are ready for delivery.
* File all Electronic Export Information (EEI) for overseas shipments under the same Schedule B commodity number that is valued at more than $2500.00 using the Automated Export System (AES).
* Prepare Commercial Invoices; consolidate orders per invoice where applicable. Assemble information appropriate to each country, customer, and freight agent or collect/pre-pay as necessary.
* Preparation of Bills of Lading and Shipper's Export Declaration as necessary.
* Create DHL, UPS and FED EX airway bills ensuring all customer information is accurate and up to date
* Manage shipments that have been approved to ship by retrieving ATS certifications and matching them with the job packets according to serial numbers.
* Ensure the ATS boxes are closed and all shipping paperwork is complete and accurate.
* Update shipping spreadsheet daily with dates of customer notifications; pick up dates and approval dates.
* Ensure all pertinent shipping documentation and box count is in order prior to submitting paperwork to Shipping/Receiving.
* Resolve issues that may arise with late pickups or mis-shipments.
* Scanning and cataloging of documentation as required e.g. scanning BOL and maintaining some type of documentation proving the customer was notified before shipping/invoicing.
* Assist in Loading Shipments and Outsource material to customers and vendors. This position must be able to pass and hold a forklift certification. Training for certification will be provided on a routine basis.
* Assist Packaging coordinator when needed, must have Quality training on the final visual inspection process of products being packaged for customers or vendors.
Receiving:
* Receive all incoming shipments into the ERP system, focusing on inputting accurate part numbers, quantities, and heat/lot numbers for each receipt.
* Verify that the parts received match the receipt paperwork as well as the PO.
* Communicate with the Purchasing team to resolve any issues or error with incoming receipts.
* Process all receiving paperwork according to departmental guidelines.
* Assist with unloading receipts by various means. This position must be able to pass and hold a forklift certification. Training for certification will be provided on a routine basis.
* Develop and publish specific metrics to track the departments overall performance.
* Identify, develop, and implement new process and projects that directly improve the Company's overall strategies in Safety, Quality, Employee Efficiencies, and Cost Cutting.
On the Dock Inventory:
* Manage the inventory of all products and packages waiting to ship.
* Keep an accurate count of all packages, parts, pack slips, SO lines, and ship status for all products on the dock.
* Keep all inventory organized and clearly labeled so customer shipments can be quickly pulled for shipment.
* Develop and publish weekly/monthly metrics on all products waiting for shipment. Metrics should tie directly to our Company goals and strategies.
* Develop and implement new inventory strategies to improve overall department efficiencies.
Required
Skills and Experience:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary to meet the minimum job requirements of this position.
* High school diploma or equivalent is required.
* Zero to 10 years managing global customer shipments, depending on level of position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Familiar with import/export documentation.
* Mechanical aptitude
* Must have a demonstrated understanding of the MS-Office Suite of productivity tools.
* Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments
