Welder Helper

A Welder helper is responsible for assisting the weld shop in the setup and execution of welding activities. This includes but not limited to setup assistance, material handling, grinding/polishing, miscellaneous shop activities and helping other departments.

Responsibilities:

* Read, understand, and execute written instructions (i.e., production orders)

* Understand, and work to Welding Procedure Specifications & Hunting Energy Services (HES) Quality Manual.

* Assist in the setup of GTAW Automatic welding equipment.

* Grinds and conditions weld areas and weld prep areas using, Bench grinder, portable grinder, etc.

* Responsible for dimensional and quality requirements of the area on the part requiring auto welding, grinding and polish.

* Can demonstrate a working knowledge of precision measuring equipment (Tape measure, Calipers, and micrometers).

* Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisors.

* To insure all HES bodies are always ground and polished to HES Quality standards when required.

* Shop and Machine Equipment Operation Safety and Hazards.

* Install replacement parts and consumables as assigned. Higher-level tiers will address issues with advanced technical equipment.

* Operating chop saw, Belt sander & Wet saw equipment.

Required

Skills and Experience:

* Required:

High school graduate or GED.

* Preferred:
Minimum 1 year experience working in a shop. Forklift and crane experience.

* Strong communication skills and excellent time management skills.

* Strong computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Excel and general understanding of file saving and transferring.

* Must be able to work with people to accomplish assigned tasks.

* Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.

* Must possess technical aptitude, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

* Fluent in English both reading and writing

* Able to perform tasks with limited supervision; able understand what they have been instructed to do

* Good communication skills; capable of instructing and training other welders or welding operators

* Training on safety, welding procedures, drawings, shop routers or work instructions as needed

* Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work flexible hours

* Must be able to pass an extensive background check and physical

* Must be dependable and trustworthy

Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

* This position will require working primarily indoors in a manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.

* Occasional assignments will require evening or weekend schedules.

* The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
