- Setup and Operation:
Independently set up 5-axis CNC machines and mill-turn machines (e.g., Mazak Integrex, DMG Mori, or similar), including loading tools, fixtures, and materials, and configuring machine parameters for accurate and efficient production. - Program Interpretation:
Read and interpret complex blueprints, and technical drawings to program and execute machining operations on both 5-axis and mill-turn equipment. - Part Production:
Run parts complete without assistance, ensuring adherence to tight tolerances and specifications across milling and turning operations, maintaining high-quality standards. - Tooling and Calibration:
Select, install, and calibrate appropriate tooling for both milling and turning processes, ensuring optimal performance and precision. - Quality Control:
Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM) to verify part dimensions and ensure compliance with specifications. - Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve machining issues, such as tool wear, machine malfunctions, or programming errors, on 5-axis and mill-turn machines to minimize downtime. - Maintenance:
Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of 5-axis and mill-turn machines to ensure equipment reliability and longevity. - Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of production runs, tool changes, and setup procedures for traceability and process improvement. - Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years as a machinist, with at least 4 years operating 5-axis CNC machines and mill-turn machines. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code, M-code) for both milling and turning operations. Ability to edit programs on the machine. - Blueprint Reading:
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and specifications for complex parts. - Tooling Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and materials (e.g., aluminum, titanium, stainless steel) for milling and turning processes. - Independence:
Proven ability to complete setups and production runs without supervision on both 5-axis and mill-turn machines. - Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex machining issues efficiently. - Precision:
Exceptional attention to detail, producing parts within tight tolerances (e.g., ±0.0005 inches).
