Overview

Serenity Hospice Care has locations all over NJ, in facilities and in their homes. Some locations include Tinton Falls, Brick, Freehold, Newark, Lakewood, Toms River, East Orange, Hammonton, Galloway and others. We work around your time schedule and location preferences. Volunteers provide companionship and support to patients by conversations, shared activities, listening, and peaceful moments; no prior experience is required and training is provided.

The volunteer experience is rewarding for both you and the patient. We appreciate any amount of time a volunteer can offer, and special talents such as Pet Therapy, Music, Art, or Knitting are welcome when available.

There are two types of volunteers at Serenity Hospice Care:
Administrative Volunteers and Direct Patient Volunteers. Details are below.

• Administrative Volunteers — Various office duties including filing, phones, mailers, promotional information and other clerical tasks. (Located at 56 Georgetown Road, Bordentown, NJ 08505).
• Direct Patient Volunteers — Visit patients in facilities or homes. Offer companionship by listening, talking, reading, or watching TV. Sharing talents such as Pet Therapy, Music, Art, or Knitting is welcome.

• Provide companionship and engage in conversations, reading, TV time, or quiet activities with patients.
• Support patients’ well-being and offer a peaceful presence.
• Utilize any special talents to enhance patient comfort when available.
• For Administrative Volunteers, assist with office tasks as assigned.

Volunteers are part of the Serenity Hospice Care family. We will support you every step of the way. Travel time reimbursement is available for Direct Patient Volunteers where applicable. No amount of time is too little; any contribution is appreciated.

No prior experience is required. We provide training and ongoing support to help you be successful in your volunteer role. If you have special talents or interests (e.g., Pet Therapy, Music, Art, Knitting), these are welcome additions.
