Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides experienced, professional nursing care to clients in a therapeutic environment. The RN assesses the needs of clients, develops individualized nursing plans, coordinates with the multi‑disciplinary team, provides direct nursing interventions or delegates tasks, and evaluates the effectiveness of the plan and the care provided.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved nursing school
  • Current licensure in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse
  • Ability to perform CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Intervention
  • Future Registered Nurses within six months of graduating and taking the NCLEX‑RN are encouraged to apply; contingent job offers may be made upon completion of the degree and passing of the NCLEX‑RN

Preferred Qualifications
  • Patient care experience within a mental health or behavioral health setting
  • Bachelor's of Nursing degree

Additional Requirements

Reference/background checks:
The Department of Human Services will conduct reference checks to verify job‑related credentials and a criminal background check prior to appointment.

Education verification:
Applicants must provide a copy of their high‑school diploma at interview or college transcripts/diploma. Copies of the college degree/diploma are acceptable only if they clearly identify the field in which it was earned.

TB screening: DCT requires documentation of a TB blood test prior to employment. DCT does not accept TB skin testing.
