The position provides the full range of custodial and housekeeping services to assigned areas within the Forensic Mental Health Program and Minnesota Sex Offender Program, campus buildings, and rental areas. The custodian ensures that a clean, sanitary, and attractive environment is maintained for clients, staff and other personnel.

• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Clean and maintain floors, windows, ceilings, walls, restrooms, client rooms, halls, offices, etc.
• Operate mechanical cleaning equipment.
• Pick up garbage and recyclable items.
• Monitor cleaning and paper supplies for buildings.
• Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
• Keep simple records.

• Using proper cleaning methods and equipment to maintain a sanitary and attractive environment.
• Selecting, applying and safely disposing of chemical cleaning agents (such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps).
• Maintaining tools and equipment sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties and make minor repairs related to cleaning and maintenance.

• Experience in cleaning and maintaining a multiple building complex or commercial facility.
• Preferred candidates will have a variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.

This position requires good physical strength and ability to use cleaning tools effectively, lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment, move up to 100 lbs of furniture for cleaning purposes, and bend and reach as needed to clean facility, furniture and equipment.
