Facilities Team Leader
Lead the facilities operation at a highly regulated manufacturing site where reliability, compliance, and engineering standards truly matter.

We are recruiting a Facilities Team Leader to take responsibility for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a busy manufacturing site’s building infrastructure and utilities. This is a key leadership role where you will manage a team of facilities engineers, oversee contractors, and ensure critical systems such as boilers, HVAC, water treatment, and compressed air operate reliably to support production.
The successful Facilities Team Leader will play a central role in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, driving preventative maintenance strategies, and improving the reliability and efficiency of site services.
Job Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of facilities engineers to maintain safe and reliable site infrastructure
Plan maintenance activities, prioritise workloads, and ensure adequate cover for critical building and utility systems
Promote strong health and safety standards across the facilities team and contractor workforce
Oversee operation and maintenance of site utilities including water treatment systems, boilers, steam systems, chillers, HVAC systems, and compressed air services
Ensure all facilities plant, equipment, and building services are maintained to a high operational standard
Maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements including health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and statutory inspections
Ensure compliance with BRC and hygiene standards relevant to a regulated manufacturing environment
Manage water hygiene systems including Legionella controls and monitoring procedures
Maintain pressure systems compliance including inspections, certification, and documentation
Own and maintain facilities documentation including risk assessments, permits, inspection records, and compliance registers
Manage and coordinate external contractors ensuring safe systems of work and high standards of delivery
Control facilities-related maintenance expenditure and work within agreed budgets
Support capital investment projects, refurbishments, and site improvement initiatives
Take responsibility for building fabric maintenance and general site services
Ensure site security systems, access controls, and emergency infrastructure remain operational and compliant
Act as the site lead for facilities-related audits and inspections
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce energy usage, and optimise operational costs
Support environmental and sustainability improvement initiatives across the site
Approximately 60% office based and 40% hands-on engineering involvement
Skills and Experience
Proven experience working as a Facilities Team Leader, Facilities Supervisor, or similar role within manufacturing or a regulated industrial environment
Strong technical knowledge of utilities including boilers, water treatment systems, HVAC, chillers, and compressed air systems
Experience working within regulated environments such as food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or similar sectors
Demonstrated experience leading engineers and managing contractor activity on site
Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements
Experience maintaining compliance with pressure systems, water hygiene, and environmental regulations
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Engineering qualification in mechanical, electrical, or building services engineering advantageous
Experience supporting regulatory inspections and compliance audits beneficial
Strong organisational skills with a proactive and practical approach to problem solving
Pay and Benefits
Salary up to £50,000 depending on experience
Monday to Friday
7:00am to 3:30pm or 8:00am to 4:30pm
Outstanding pension scheme - you contribute 4%, the company contributes 10%
