Medical Assistant-UF Family - St Marys

Overview

A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician.

• Take patient's vital signs and prepare patients for the provider's care.
• Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
• Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hardcopy, to include signature, date and time.
• Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician.
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms. Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Participate as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
• Provide a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers.

Experience Requirements:

• 1-year Medical Assistant – Preferred
• 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry – Preferred
• 1-year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for imputing data and reviewing

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Required – or within 6 months
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required – At time of Hire
• Medical Terminology Certificate – Preferred At time of Hire

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma / GED – Required at time of Hire
• Completion of an MA program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board – Required at time of Hire
