Responsibilities
- To provide leadership in delivering and monitoring the Quality Agenda in Emergency Care.
- To ensure the delivery of a high quality nursing service in line with Local and National Guidelines within Emergency Care by reviewing and supporting staff development.
- To facilitate learning and development opportunities for staff specific to Emergency Care.
- To provide clinical leadership and mentorship to the staff team and a range of students from different professions (pre‑reg Nursing, Midwifery, medical, Paramedic, Paramedic Practitioner (PP), Critical Care Paramedic (CCP), ODP).
- To lead in areas of research and audit.
- To operate innovatively to achieve a balance between service provision and staff development.
- To operate autonomously, assess, diagnose, treat and discharge patients within scope of practice in order to maintain clinical expertise.
- To coordinate the Emergency Department as required.
- To support management of staff, including appraisals, rotas, recruitment and selection as required.
You will need to provide strong leadership, possess excellent communication skills and be able to develop and support staff with clinical and professional expertise. You will also be expected to function effectively under pressure without compromising standards of care and professionalism.
You must have advanced clinical knowledge and skills, be willing to participate in research and audit projects and will also be expected to work with a certain amount of autonomy. QualificationsThe successful candidates must have a minimum of 5 years post‑qualification experience with substantive experience at Band 6 in an Emergency Unit setting. A post registration qualification is essential as is an awareness of the current professional, research and practice issues and an understanding of modern human resource management.
