St Austell Healthcare are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to work alongside our highly-skilled multi-disciplinary team that includes Practice Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Urgent Care Nurses, Paramedic/Urgent care Practitioners,Clinical Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and Mental Health Nurses. We are abusy practice that provides a service to approximately 38, 000 patients.
You will havegood communication skills, demonstrating empathy and compassion whilst ensuringprivacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times, be able to work under pressure, and work within a large team.
The role willoffer you great variety including assisting in ophthalmology clinics,haematology clinics, and contraception clinics.
The ideal candidate will be trained to NVQlevel 2 / 3 , and have previous experience in venepuncture, wound care,blood pressure and ECGs.
Main duties of the jobBe part of the primary healthcare team providing high quality and forward thinking nursing care inorder to meet the holistic healthcare needs of the practice population. The post holder will provide clinical care as directed by the Lead Nurses. Working under the supervision of the Lead Nurses, responsibilities will vary, involving the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care.

There will be arequirement to move between sites. Hoursto be arranged between 8.00 and and 8.00 pm Monday to Friday, with rota participation on a Saturday.

Specific Responsibilities:
Clinical Skills
- Undertake record andfollow guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriatetraining.
- Venepuncture.
- Urinalysisand preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathologylaboratory.
- Measuring and recording:
- - blood pressure
- pulse rate and rhythm
- temperature
- height and weight
- body mass index
- peak flow
- ECGs
- Bloodglucose monitoring
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
- Ensure GPs rooms and clinicaltreatment rooms are clean and well stocked.
- Giveaccurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within owncompetence.
- Supportclinicians in providing minor surgery.
- Plan,develop and implement ways of raising and promoting awareness of healthand well-being, keeping records of what has been done.
- Provide support and encouragement to patients to self-manage their conditions as appropriate.
- Act as a chaperone, when requested.
- Record information and activities undertakenwith patients and carers in an accurate and timely fashion using manual or computer systems and Read codes.

- Able to communicate routine information that requires tact and persuasive skills, or where there may be barriers to understanding.

- Ability to cope with occasional exposure to aggressive behaviour
- General education (3 GCSE's) to grade C or above
- NVQ level 2
